VCBA's Gift Card Program

One important reminder about the card applies to using the card at restaurants in the Town of Vail...most restaurants factor in an 18% gratuity on the check, so when processing the card, it might be declined if you do not consider to add this extra amount.  For example, if you have a $50 gift card, you can only pay $42 towards your restaurant bill, the additional $8 would be considered a gratuity.

The Vail Chamber & Business Association is proud to announce a very new and exciting marketing program for the Town of Vail & the business community.

The VCBA has entered into a Gift Card Program with NBO & Discover. This program will have properties similar to those of phone cards that are so popular today. The cards will be pre-loaded at the VCBA office for amounts that are paid for by the purchaser. These cards can then be used at participating merchants until the expiration date which will appear on each card.

The reason for choosing Discover over any of the other cards is very simple. Discover is the only card that has the ability to define the area in which the card can be redeemed. It can go a step further by also being able to limit the redemption capabilities to specific businesses.

This is a very important component from the perspective of the VCBA because what it means is that cards that are awarded or purchased in Vail will be redeemed exclusively in Vail. You can see why that makes a difference when you analyze the first application for these cards, the Premier Impressions Program. Each winning nominee - and there will be over 200 of them based on past years - will receive a $25 Gift Card from the VCBA called a V ail C ash B onus A ward. These cards will be redeemable only at those businesses that are dues paying members of the VCBA & take the Discover Card.

The cards will also be for sale at the VCBA office. These cards will be redeemable at any business in the TOV that accepts the Discover Card, not just dues paying members. We already have sold 2 cards for a total of $750 that will be used as part of a special event promotion in Vail.
