2.      Overview of the CSE funding requests by the VCBA – Rich

3.      Public Address / Music system throughout town

The public address system has so far received positive feedback from the merchants.  We have received several “rough” estimates and are looking to obtain several detail estimates for the most cost effective way to get a system in Vail Village that expands down Meadow Dr. 

 

4.      Gore Creek Promenade music

The VCBA successfully add two chamber music concerts to Vail Village over the course of the summer, both in Gore Creek Promenade.  The VCBA’s contribution was to help with the staging and promotion of the these free concerts.

 

5.      Vail Resorts summer 2010, -

The VCBA is  coordinating with Vail Resorts to maximize the useage of the Mountain Plaza location next to the Vista Bahn.  Public input is appreciated as to how to use this space.  So far ideas are to work with Non-Profits i.e. the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens , have pony rides,

6.      Vail Valley Foundation “Dancing in the Streets”, 2010 – Joyce

 

7.      Mini Cooper Club of Western Region

       The VCBA is working with a Mini Cooper Club to host a large Mini

 

8.      Proposed Lodging tax of 4.9% from 1.4% for a total of 12.9% - Rich

a.     Concerned Citizens for Vail letter in the Vail Daily last Thursday

      The overall attitude towards this proposed increase is that it is somewhat of a burden

      to the  lodging community, and will overall effect all businesses, this is not the best time

      for that.

 

9.      Town of Vail Council Candidates & Forum – Rich

a.     Tony Mauro to moderate, 6:00 PM Donovan Pavilion October 14, 2009

b.     Seats open for – Farrow Hitt, Mark Gordon, Kim Newbury and Kevin Folley

c.     Candidates – Mark Gordon, Kim Newbury, Buddy Lazier, Scott Propper, Mike Charles

 

10.  Premier Impressions update / status of funding from the Town of Vail

a.     Requested funds originally $30,000 for 6 months – JFMA / JJ down to $15,000 JFM

b.     Requesting money from Vail Resorts

c.     Would the merchants be willing to support with money or give public support in front of the Town Council.

d.     Need support at public input, next budget reading 6:00 PM Tuesday October 6, 2009

 

11.  Merchant Pass program

a.     Yes, there is going to be a Merchant Pass program for 2009 / 2010

b.     Designed for business Owners & Upper level managers

c.     Tentative date, Thursday November 12, 2009 – only ONE oppertunity

a.     Position of the proposed Ever Vail in west Lionshead
